The nomination committee for the board member position at the state-owned company “Riga International Airport” (VAS “Riga International Airport”) has decided to recommend two candidates to the Ministry of Transport, one of whom will be appointed to the position.
In the third round of the competition, three candidates vied for the position. During this phase, the committee assessed the candidates’ leadership competencies.
After evaluating the candidates across all three rounds, the nomination committee decided to recommend two candidates for the vacant position on the board of VAS “Riga International Airport” with expertise in financial matters, auditing, strategy development and implementation, and the operational domain of the airport. The candidates were prioritized based on their total score, and the Ministry of Transport will make the final decision on who will be appointed.
The nomination committee was chaired by Dzintra Gasūne, head of the Corporate Management Department at the State Chancellery’s Cross-Sectoral Coordination Department. The committee included Inguna Strautmane, Director of the State Capital Management Department at the Ministry of Transport; Artūrs Kokars, Director of the Aviation Department at the Ministry of Transport; Jānis Gredzens, Work Environment Coordinator at the Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Institute; Zigmārs Vestfāls, Board Member of the Latvian Aviation Association; Gita Oškāja, Deputy Chair of the Latvian Free Trade Unions Association; and Kaspars Gorkšs, Director General of the Latvian Employers’ Confederation. Fontes Executive Search, a personnel selection firm, was involved in the evaluation and selection of the candidates.
The nomination process was managed by the State Chancellery in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, following the State Chancellery’s assumption of the Cross-Sectoral Coordination Centre’s functions from March 1, 2023, including managing the nomination process for state-owned companies’ board member selections.
