The application process for the open competition for a board member position at the state joint-stock company “Riga International Airport” (VAS “Starptautiskā lidosta “Rīga””) has concluded. The role requires expertise in finance, auditing, strategic development and implementation, as well as knowledge of the airport’s operations. A total of 22 candidates have submitted their applications.

The competition, announced on May 23, will be conducted in three rounds. During the first round, the nominations committee will evaluate the submitted documents to ensure the candidates meet the mandatory requirements.

In the second round, candidates will undergo interviews where they will present their strategic vision for addressing the future challenges of VAS “Starptautiskā lidosta “Rīga””. This includes highlighting key priorities and offering proposals for their implementation. In the third round, the committee will assess the management competencies of the candidates.

At the conclusion of the competition, one or two candidates who receive the highest evaluations will be recommended to the Ministry of Transport in a prioritized order for the final decision and appointment.

The nominations committee is chaired by Dzintra Gasūne, head of the State Chancellery’s Cross-Sectoral Coordination Department’s Capital Company Management Division. The committee includes Inguna Strautmane, Director of the State Capital Shares Management Department at the Ministry of Transport; Artūrs Kokars, Director of the Aviation Department at the Ministry of Transport; Jānis Gredzens, Coordinator of Work Environment Issues at the Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Institute; Zigmārs Vestfāls, Board Member of the Latvian Aviation Association; Gita Oškāja, Deputy Chair of the Latvian Free Trade Union Confederation; and Kaspars Gorkšs, General Director of the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia. The candidate evaluation and selection process is supported by the personnel recruitment service provider SIA “Fontes Executive Search”.

The State Chancellery, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, oversees the nomination process. As of March 1, 2023, the State Chancellery has taken over the functions of the Cross-Sectoral Coordination Centre, which includes the responsibility to ensure the nomination processes for selecting board members of state capital companies.
